Valentine’s day is, more times than not, a day of giving to others.  Most holidays are.  We work ourselves into a panic over what we’ll do for those in our lives – does she like geraniums or posies?  Would the kids prefer heart-shaped lollipops or should I do those make-your-own s’mores kits again?  A light nouveau-chic dish like citrus-glazed Mahi Mahi for dinner, or a sinful robust classic like spaghetti with homemade meatballs?  Will I rev his engines in this strapless number, or should I go backless instead?

ENOUGH!  Where is the self-love?  I’m shooting a movie right now, and whenever I’m on set I need to remember more than ever to take care of me, so for this 4th day of Valentine’s inspiration I whipped up a Ylang Ylang Coconut Body Butter to pamper myself.  The soothing scent of the Ylang Ylang helps me feel calm and balanced even as I’m racing to get Teddy off to school before a full day of acting, and the coconut leaves my skin supple, soft, and sexy!  Plus, who doesn’t need an extra excuse to ask for a massage?

And yes, it can also be packaged beautifully and used as a gift…but gift yourself first, Revelers.  You deserve it.

YLANG YLANG COCONUT BODY BUTTER

Ingredients:
1 cup coconut oil
40 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil

Directions:

Combine coconut oil and 40 drops of Ylang Ylang essential oil in a bowl, then set under the mixer for ten minutes or so until it takes on the texture and appearance of heavy whipped cream.  Add more essential oil to your liking, scoop into a glass jar – we like mason jars – and spread on the love!
